Police responding to robbery (Updated 8:45 p.m.)

Dalton police responded to a robbery at the Country Inn and Suites on West Bridge Road tonight shortly after 7. Police were searching an area that included the Red Lobster nearby.

Police spokesman Bruce Frazier said a black male, with short, close-cropped hair and wearing a suede or tan jacket, entered the hotel and milled around for a bit, and then demanded money from the clerk, indicating he was armed, although no weapon was shown. The man received an undisclosed amount of cash and left. Frazier said officers are working on several leads in hopes of identifying the man. No injuries were reported, although the clerk was "shaken up."
