Dalton Police Department needs the public’s help in attempting to identify two vehicles that are potential contributing factors in a crash that sent three to Hamilton Medical Center this morning.
The crash occurred near the intersection of the north bypass and Veterans Drive at approximately 8:13 a.m.
The driver of a Chrysler New Yorker, Milford Farr from Chatsworth, told officers at the scene that he was headed south on the north bypass in the inside lane passing through the intersection when a blue Chevrolet pickup truck that was traveling in the outside lane swerved into his lane. To avoid striking the truck, Farr swerved left across the double yellow line into a lane occupied by a Honda Accord driven by Josephine Gonzalez of Dalton.
Farr could not correct and hit the Honda driven by Gonzalez head on. A passenger in the vehicle driven by Farr told officers that a green car pulled off Veterans Drive into the path of the pickup truck causing the driver of the truck to swerve into the left hand lane. The passenger stated that Farr swerved left to avoid the truck and hit the Honda head on.
Gonzalez stated that she was headed north on the bypass and had just entered the left turn lane to head south on Veterans Drive when the vehicle driven by Farr came into her lane and hit her head on. Farr, the passenger in his car, and Gonzalez were transported to Hamilton Medical Center with injuries sustained in the crash. There were two other passengers in the car driven by Gonzalez that were not injured in the crash.
Dalton Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit needs help indentifying the blue truck and the green passenger car that may have contributed to the crash. Anyone that may have witnessed the crash or has any information on the two vehicles is asked to call (706) 278-9085, extension 124.
