A man who police say grabbed a teenage girl while she was shopping at a convenience store on Chattanooga Road was in the Whitfield County jail on Tuesday.
Heath Shield Franklin, 41, of 4515 Crest Way, Cohutta, was charged Sunday by the Dalton Police Department with sexual battery and tampering with evidence.
Lt. Chris Cooke said Franklin is accused of grabbing the buttocks of a 14-year-old girl who was a customer at a convenience store where he works at 2201 Chattanooga Road. Investigators are still working the case and reviewing surveillance video.
“They have already identified other victims that have not come forward,” Cooke said. “We know there are some that have not been identified.”
Franklin was convicted in 1992 of child molestation, according to the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. He was in jail without bond as of late Tuesday afternoon.
