Hospice of Chattanooga is inviting the community in North Georgia to attend a memorial service Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nativity, 1201 Cross St., in Fort Oglethorpe. The service will celebrate the lives of Hospice of Chattanooga patients who died between June 1, 2009, and Nov. 30, 2009. Hospice of Chattanooga serves eight counties in North Georgia.
“This memorial service is for more than just grieving family and friends,” said Susan Latta, a bereavement counselor with Hospice of Chattanooga. “It gives our own employees an opportunity to properly say goodbye to the patients they loved and served. It’s important for us to come together as a community and process this grief we mutually share.”
The memorial service will include a lighting of candles, music and a reading of each deceased patient’s name. A reception will follow.
