Jerry Salley and Tiller’s Folly will be the featured acts at the Woodsongs Coffeehouse Concert Series Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Dalton Freight Depot, 305 S. Depot St. The concert is the second show of three in the series that is helping raise funds for Providence Ministries in south Dalton.
Tiller’s Folly is a progressive folk band from Vancouver, B.C., Canada. An international touring band which performs Celtic, bluegrass and roots music from around the world, they were most recently in Memphis for a showcase performance at the Folk Alliance convention. The band has limited performance dates in the U.S. this year, according to a Woodsongs release.
An award-winning songwriter, Salley’s songs have been recorded by country music artists Reba McEntire, Loretta Lynn, The Oak Ridge Boys and Brad Paisley, among others. Salley’s numerous awards include the 2003 Country Music Songwriter of the Year and the Dove Award, which is given in gospel music.
“I met Jerry last year while attending the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Leadership Bluegrass program,” said concert organizer Paul Byrum. “I was spellbound the first time I heard Jerry sing in Nashville and I think you will be too.”
Byrum added that seating is very limited for the Saturday show. Tickets are $15 at the door or can be purchased ahead of time by visiting the website at www.woodsongsdalton.com. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. The Facebook page can be found at www.facebook.com/WoodsongsDaltonGA.
