In August, Theresa Brown, Hamilton Medical Center lactation consultant, will represent the state of Georgia at the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee 2012 National Conference in Washington, D.C.
Brown sent in a submission, “United We Stand: The Importance of Teamwork,” and was chosen to present it for a breakfast table topic during the conference. Breakfast table topics are designed to foster discussion among a table of eight to 10 attendees during the one-hour breakfast periods. Carol Hendrix, breast-feeding coordinator for the Northwest Georgia Health District, will be Brown’s co-presenter.
The conference will focus on the surgeon general’s call to action to support breast-feeding. The theme is “Answering the Call: Coalitions Moving Into Action.”
The United States Breastfeeding Committee has officially declared August to be National Breastfeeding Month.
