The Whitfield-Murray Historical Society will hold its next meeting on Sunday, July 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Whitfield-Murray History Center and Archives (Crown Gardens & Archives) at 715 Chattanooga Ave. in Dalton. The public is cordially invited.
The featured speaker will be Reg Burnett, whose topic will be the history and future of the carpet industry. As founder of RBI International Carpet Consultants, and with more than 60 years in the tufting business, Burnett offers a fascinating and exceptionally knowledgeable perspective. His insights will shed new light on the role of the carpet industry in the north Georgia area.
Burnett was born and educated in England, and moved permanently to the United States in 1952. During the next 15 years he studied synthetic fibers and worked in the American carpet and man-made fiber industry. He founded the RBI carpet consulting business in Dalton in 1967 and under his leadership the company grew to a staff of 22 permanent specialists working with more than 250 companies around the world.
Burnett has lectured in many countries and universities throughout America, and in Canada, Europe, China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Please join the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society for his engaging presentation. Everyone is always welcome.
