Crandall man charged in home invasion

A Crandall man has been arrested for an alleged home invasion and assault last September on Keith Avenue in Chatsworth that authorities say left two people injured.

Richard Codey Haddock, 18, of 695 Booger Branch Road, was charged by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with probation violation, armed robbery, aggravated assault and burglary. Haddock denied in Murray County Superior Court on Wednesday before Judge Jim Wilbanks that he violated his probation due to the charges, a court official said.

Haddock and two other white males kicked in the front door of a woman’s residence on Keith Avenue and assaulted her and her boyfriend after demanding money, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

“(The female resident) stated Mr. Haddock demanded her wallet several times even after she told him she only had a few dollars,” the report stated, adding the female did not know the other two males with Haddock. “(The boyfriend) stated he was struck over the head by one of the subjects and was bleeding from the assault. (The female resident) has numerous marks on both arms and shoulders and possible breaks to her left forearm.”

Murray EMS evaluated the woman and man, and Detective Brett Morrison also came to the scene. Missing was a 32-inch flat screen TV.

Haddock pleaded guilty to DUI, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and theft by shoplifting in a 2010 case, receiving two 12-month sentences to be served consecutively, with 60 days in jail and the rest on probation.

Assistant District Attorney Scott Minter said a probation violation hearing for Haddock is set for Feb. 15. Detective Tim Bell with the sheriff’s office said the other suspects obscured their identities and were unknown by the victims and have not been arrested.
