A rash of car break-ins along Sam Love Road near Rocky Face on Thursday night is being investigated by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office.
“It’s in some autos out there in the last 24 hours, and we’ve got investigators working on it,” said Capt. Rick Swiney. “No arrests have been made at this time, but they’re following up on leads.”
There were more than 12 break-ins reported. He added the thefts were localized around Sam Love Road and some of the streets that branch off the dead end drive, and that patrols have been stepped up.
Swiney said the perpetrators have smashed windows, but in other instances vehicles were not locked up, making it easier for the thieves.
“It’s always good to lock your doors,” he said. “It may keep them from breaking into your car or stealing your car.”
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (706) 278-1233.
