A young male who was riding a bicycle was hit by a tractor-trailer truck on Cleveland Highway near North Whitfield Middle School Thursday afternoon, Whitfield County 911 reported. It appeared the truck hit the boy with a glancing blow and not at full impact.
The incident happened just before 5 p.m. and the boy was being airlifted from Hamilton Medical Center to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga about 30 minutes later, the dispatcher said.
His identity was not released.
