In anticipation of expected wintry weather this afternoon, three local school systems dismissed early.
Dalton Public Schools dismissed elementary and high schools at 1 p.m. while the middle school dismissed at noon.
Whitfield County Schools dismissed elementary school students at 11 a.m., followed by middle and high school students at noon.
Murray County Schools dismissed high school drivers at 11 a.m. and all other students at 11:30 a.m.
All Georgia Northwestern Technical College campuses, including the Whitfield-Murray campus, closed today at 2 p.m. All evening classes have been canceled.
Dalton Pre-School dismissed its students at noon.
Classes at Dalton State College will remain open today through the afternoon and evening.
The jazz concert tonight by The Notables at Dalton State College has been canceled and will be rescheduled.
The North Georgia Health District offices in Dalton and the Murray and Whitfield County health departments closed today at 2 p.m. due to inclement weather, officials said. Updates will be posted at www.nghd.org.
