Gingrich to speak at 9th District GOP meeting in Cumming

Former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and potential presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has confirmed he will address the delegation at the 9th District Republican Party of Georgia Convention in Cumming on Saturday, April 16.

“Georgia is going to pick up a new congressional district,” said Doug Grammer, 9th District chair. “Georgia is an important stop for serious candidates on the national level. It was the first state to be called for McCain in 2008 and we want to be the first state called for whichever nominee we select to remove President Obama from office in 2012.

“If Speaker Gingrich were to make an announcement, there is no better place than the 9th to officially announce a candidacy for president.”

The convention is expected to bring more than 500 delegates and alternates from around the 15-county district to Cumming. Guests will be admitted for $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Details can be found at www.gagop9.org.
