The Boys and Girls Club of Dalton is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for vandalizing its building at 1007 Underwood St. this week. Early estimates indicated that the incident caused approximately $2,000 worth of damage.
The incident happened sometime between 6 p.m. on Sunday and 7 a.m. the next morning. Boys and Girls Club staff found that the window had been broken out of a door to the building used for high school students’ recreation, and the door was opened. Inside, staff found that there were holes knocked in walls and doors by a hammer which was recovered inside the building. There was also extensive damage to a patio outside of the building, where Plexiglas was broken and a glass table from inside the building was also broken outside. A fire extinguisher was also discharged inside a bus on the site.
While there was a great deal of property in the building, nothing appeared to have been stolen. The Dalton Police Department’s crime scene examiner responded Monday morning to process the scene and collect evidence.
Anyone with information on this incident or the identity of the person or persons responsible is asked to please contact Detective Brandon Carter at (706) 278-9085, extension 183.
