Area Arrests for July 26
• Aldo Jordan-Vazquez, 24, 1007 Ponders Lane, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of false identification documentation, failure to stop at a stop sign, a windshield violation and driving without a license.
• Larry Eugene Pangle, 59, 2801 S. Hamilton St., Dalton, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with theft by receiving stolen property.
• Jason Lee Shavers, 28, 107 Abilene Trail, Dalton, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
• Thomas Marion Townsend, 42, 910 LaFayette Road, Rocky Face, was charged Friday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with burglary and public drunkenness.
• Eric Labron Chadwick, 28, 523 School St., Dalton, was charged Friday by the Dalton Police Department with a turning violation, failure to change address on driver’s license and DUI.
• Malton Eugene Cox, 20, 3134 Tennga Gregory Road, Crandall, was charged Saturday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with enticing a child for indecent purposes and underage consumption.
• Marcus Dempsey Sherrill, 22, 231 Deerpark Road, Chatsworth, was charged Saturday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with DUI and failure to maintain lane.
• Tina Marie Manis, 35, 1515 Liberty Drive, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with second degree criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and criminal trespass.
• Miguel Tomas-Tomas, 24, 2112 S. Dixie Highway No. 16, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with DUI, driving without a license, failure to maintain lane and probation violation.
• Jeanette Marie Baker, 32, 9006 Wooten Road, Apartment B, Chattanooga, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle and DUI.
• Chad Dewayne Martin, 32, 4527 Shelby Drive SE, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with a tag light violation and DUI.
• John Tyler Metcalf, 25, 3012 E. Brookhaven Circle, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Dalton Police Department with having an expired tag and DUI.
• Angela Danielle Phillips, 29, 974 Beaverdale Road, Dalton, was charged Saturday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with DUI/alcohol, first offense driving while tag is suspended and failure to maintain lane.

Five people were taken to Hamilton Medical Center following a head-on crash between a Jeep Cherokee and a Volvo service truck from The Drain Doctor on V.D. Parrott Jr. Parkway around 1:10 p.m. Thursday.

Falcons roost at Southeast
At Southeast, football ruled the day during an afternoon pep rally as the school celebrated as victors in the Atlanta Falcons “Win-Win Challenge” presented by Under Armour and Hibbett Sports. Southeast received a prize package of $5,000 in Under Armour apparel and $5,000 in cash, which will be spent on new dumbbells for the weight room and upgrades to the physical education program.

More than 200 Dalton State College students gathered Thursday afternoon for a town hall style meeting to question college leaders regarding state funding cuts they were told could result in the elimination of entire degree programs.
