The driver of a vehicle that Dalton police say caused a three-car wreck with one injury Wednesday afternoon has been charged with DUI and other traffic violations.
Carl Willard Denton, 50, of 1214 Arabian Drive in Dalton, is also charged with driving too fast for conditions, having an open container in his vehicle and causing serious injury by vehicle. Denton has a bond appearance before a magistrate judge today.
Police said Denton was driving a Chevrolet Silverado when it slammed into the back of a Jeep CJ-5 driven by Glenn Young, 32, of Tunnel Hill at 2:50 p.m. while Young was at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and McGhee Drive. The impact forced the Jeep CJ-5 into a Ford Expedition.
Young was taken to Hamilton Medical Center by ambulance. A hospital spokeswoman said on Thursday that he was not at Hamilton but privacy laws prohibited her from providing additional information.
