Today’s 4 p.m. announcement at the Dalton Community Center about a community education initiative will be open to the public as several local government boards expect to have enough members present for a quorum.
The purpose of the meeting is to announce plans that several local government, civic and education leaders have to support literacy in Whitfield County through a reading, writing and language skills initiative the leaders have agreed to support. State sunshine laws require governments to announce meetings whenever a quorum of members from their respective elected boards gathers to discuss or vote on public business.
No votes are planned, but the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners, Whitfield Board of Education and Dalton Board of Education have all announced the meeting.
