ROME — A Murray County man was arrested Monday and charged with multiple counts of theft after police said he illegally used a store credit card to procure gift cards for his own use.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Timothy Luke Swann, 26, of 3966 Ga. 52 in Chatsworth, was arrested by Floyd County deputies around 4 p.m. He was charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property and seven counts of theft by conversion.
Warrants stated that between July 3 and July 14, 2009, Swann had legal possession of a store credit card that he was supposed to use to purchase items at the Home Depot on Hicks Drive to renovate property of the card owner. However, police said he used the credit card without permission to obtain more than $1,200 worth of gift cards that he used for himself.
Warrants also stated that in December 2009, Swann stayed overnight at a relative’s residence on John Ross Drive, and the next day, the relative found that a laptop computer, two cameras, two iPods and a silver toolbox were missing. The items were valued at $1,500.
Swann remains in jail without bail due to a parole violation, a probation violation and a hold for Chattooga County authorities.
