DALTON — Whitfield County Schools superintendent Katie Brochu is among three finalists for the superintendent position of Richland School District Two in Columbia, S.C.
She has been the Whitfield County Schools superintendent since 2005. The State (Columbia, S.C.) reported the position pays roughly $200,000 a year.
The Richland School District Two Board of Trustees could make a decision as early as this weekend, but the board will take whatever amount of time needed, board chairman Bill Flemming said.
Last week, the board conducted initial interviews with a slate of candidates recommended by a search team from BWP & Associates as those best fitting the leadership profile culled from earlier meetings with employees and community members and an online survey.
“BWP received 99 applications for this job. Candidates were from 28 states. The quality of the candidates we interviewed was impressive,” Flemming said. ”We are looking for the right person to lead our district into the future and continue our vision of a ‘world class’ education for our students. We selected three candidates who we believe can accomplish that. Our next step will be determining the best of these three.”
