Fashion show to benefit Family Crisis Center

DALTON — The Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center Board of Directors and the Dalton Business & Professional Women’s Club announce the 3rd Annual Spring Fashion Show to benefit the Crisis Center. The event includes a luncheon, a show of spring fashions and door prizes.

It is slated for Saturday, April 24, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Walnut Hill Farm on Lee Bryant Road, off Highway 2 east of Prater’s Mill. Owner Nanette Yarbrough generously donated the facility for the event.

Spring fashions will be provided by stores in both the Dalton and Calhoun communities.  Participating stores include Belk at Walnut Square Mall; House of Beauty and Simply Delightful II, both on Dug Gap Road; and El Palacio De Las Novias on the corner of Frederick Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Stores from the Calhoun/Gordon county area include Biddy Boutique on Court Street, Reese’s Fashion Gallery in the Gordon Hills Shopping Center, and Liz Claiborne and Jones New York, both in the Prime Outlet Mall.

Board member Lisa Painter said, “We are so excited and grateful to these businesses for their willingness to support this event.”

The models will be modeling wigs provided by Sassi & Co. on Walnut Avenue. Board member Jennifer Dixon and the Mary Kay Cosmetic team will provide makeup fashion trends showcased by the models.

Tickets are $50 per person. Groups may purchase a table of eight for $350. Tickets are available by contacting the center at (706) 278-6595.

The board currently is seeking community support for the event in the form of sponsorships and door prize donations. Board president Anita Thornton said, “We would gratefully accept any level of support for this event, or sponsorships at the following levels: Friend, $250; Patron, $500; or Benefactor, $1,000.” The center is a nonprofit provider; therefore, all donations are tax-deductible. All donors and sponsors will be recognized in the event program.

The purpose of the center is to end violence in the home by providing shelter, advocacy and support to victims while working in communities to change attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. The center provides emergency shelter for domestic violence victims and their children. It also provides advocacy and client support services through offices in Dalton and Calhoun.

The center serves Gordon, Murray and Whitfield County residents. The hotline is (706) 278-5586.

The community can help support the center through financial contributions, clothing and household goods donations, and by volunteering time. Contact the center at (706) 278-6595 to learn more about support opportunities.
