DALTON — Charges against a Crandall man have been upgraded after authorities learned his 12-year-old stepdaughter was pregnant.
Phillip Adam Scarlett, 28, of 320 Nordic Road, was charged on Tuesday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with aggravated child molestation and incest. He had been charged in February with child molestation. He is expected to have a bond hearing in Murray County Superior Court this morning.
Chief Deputy Ray Sitton said the girl told her mother what happened and the mother contacted authorities.
