DALTON —
The North Georgia Tea Parties were represented this week in Atlanta in the office of Speaker of the House David Ralston. The purpose of the meeting was to present the speaker with specific concerns throughout the state as have been expressed by citizens to the Tea Parties.
We asked that they strive, as legislators, to regain Georgia's sovereignty and break the addition to D.C. We also requested that their top priority be to live within the means of our state-cutting nonessentials in government.
An unpopular request by us was a cutback in the amount of influence lobbyists have on our legislators by limiting gifts/meals/entertainment.
Our stand on the 10th Amendment and the return to Constitutional compliance was paramount to the discussion. We suggested a more focused indoctrination with regard to our Constitution within the curriculum of our public schools plus an added emphasis on American history studies.
We also asked that bills be more sterilized and any amendment be germane only to that bill. The speaker assured us that this is already in place.
Ralston explained that our current legislators see the need and are dedicated to “right this ship” in the best direction for Georgia. He sent his appreciation to all Tea Party members for a great job in promoting community awareness and good government.
Those represented in the meeting other than the staff of the Speaker were the counties of Catoosa, Walker, Dade, Whitfield, Gilmer and Pickens.

When most Americans view Mount Rushmore the view it as a majestic symble of American prosperity, they do this because they do not know the whole truth about this landmark.
