It is time for the city of Dalton and Whitfield County to celebrate the strong history of carpet and textiles. This would mark the historic points of discovery and build tourist interest.
The University of West Georgia department of public history can cooperate to make Dalton a key point for the Georgia Textile Heritage Trail. There is grant funding available from the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s tourism product development division.
This would revive interest in Dalton’s history to mark “from Whitener to Shaw and beyond.”
