We have lost the value of Christmas today, among the clutter of tinsel and gifts we give away.
We rush and we rush to get everything done until we’ve forgotten the true meaning, the birthday of God’s son.
Christmas should be a happy, joyous time of the year! A time to look forward to rather than dread and fear. We buy many gifts and rush to see Santa Claus. That’s what our children hope for as this is how they are taught.
Sure, we listen to carols and tell the story of long ago, but it’s tucked in with the hassle, not expressed to the fullest, as it should be told.
The birth of our Lord should be first and foremost in our minds, not the gifts and Santa, Christmas trees and rush of time. Let’s slow down and remember Christ who gave so much for us. Can’t we give him Christmas without such a fuss? Let’s show Christ we are saying “Happy Birthday!” to him.
It will be a more joyous time if we make him welcome.
