Ruling doesn’t make sense

Dalton Daily Citizen

DALTON —

The recent ruling by Superior Court Judge Jack Partain was a travesty of justice which we have come to expect by those in power.

No matter how much spin is put on this case by Judge Partain and District Attorney Kermit McManus, the end result is the same — influence prevails over legal responsibility. Had this case involved an ordinary Joe the result would have been totally different. But this guy was special. He was a football player, worshipped by the masses and incapable of wrong.

I am absolutely shocked by the ruling by someone I thought was incorruptible. Shame on you, Judge.

Consent by a minor is not consent. That is so basic to all that is right. A minor is recognized by not having the mental capacity to make a proper judgment regarding this type of activity. And guess what? The defense attorney is quoted as saying that the judge said “this was more like a traffic ticket.” That is incredible. We are in trouble when this sort of reasoning issues forth from our judicial officials.

How would you feel if this serious violation happened to your loved one? You’d be as mad as I am and we all should be eager to vent this anger at the ballot box next election.
