Rathbun named Volunteer of the Year at Gordon Hospital

CALHOUN — For his dedicated service and commitment to Gordon Hospital, Bill Rathbun was named Volunteer of the Year recently at Gordon Hospital.

Marsha McDaniel, Gordon Hospital’s auxiliary coordinator, presented Rathbun with the award at the annual Gordon Hospital Auxiliary Banquet held recently at Gordon Hospital.

“I am very pleased to present this award to Bill,” McDaniel said. “Everybody loves Bill and we are so blessed to have him as a member of our Auxiliary.”

After Judy Jackson, director of development for Gordon Hospital, welcomed the volunteers and guests to the banquet, a prayer was offered by Gordon Hospital Chaplain Dave Smith. Prior to dinner, entertainment was provided by guitarist and soloist Rebecca Owen.

Cory Reeves, CFO of Gordon Hospital, expressed his appreciation to the volunteers prior to the award presentations.

“We are so grateful for all of the work that you do for Gordon Hospital and our patients,” he said.

Also during the banquet the auxiliary members elected officers for the coming year. The new Auxiliary officers, pictured from left to right are Neta Smith, secretary; Mary Lehman, treasurer; Bill Rathbun and Sue Rathbun, co-presidents; Karen Kniss and Wesley Davenport, co-vice presidents.

Thirty-two hospital volunteers, eight chaplain volunteers, and nine Encounter Navigators were presented certificates of appreciation for their service.
