HMC Community Federal Credit Union recently held its groundbreaking ceremony for a new main office building on Chattanooga Avenue which is scheduled to open mid-summer. Attending the event were credit union staff, members of the board of directors, construction company staff, Chamber of Commerce representatives and local business leaders.
“The 5,000-square-foot office will feature a drive-up ATM, night deposit box and three drive-through teller lanes, which will greatly enhance member convenience,” said Deborah Wright, president and CEO.
The credit union was chartered in 1958 as a financial institution for hospital and other health care workers, said Mary Shoemaker, board chairman.
“It is an honor to speak on behalf of the board of directors, staff and our members to say how excited everyone is to be a part of this great occasion,” she said. “Today marks a great milestone in the dream of a standalone building.”
The credit union was granted a community charter by the National Credit Union Administration last year. Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Whitfield or Murray counties is eligible to use its services.
