World AIDS Day is observed worldwide each year on Dec. 1 to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and to help halt the spread of this pandemic disease. This year, the North Georgia Health District and the North Georgia Task Force HIV Prevention Committee invite the public to commemorate and honor those who have died and those who are living with HIV/AIDS at a special service on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Dalton Fellowship Hall. The church is at 311 Thornton Ave. in Dalton.
Davena Baggett of Amedisys Hospice will lead the Meditation of Candles and a message will be presented by Dr. Jason E. Owen. Attendees will be provided a light lunch following the service.
