Gordon Hospital hosts dinner with doctors to discuss chronic coughing
CALHOUN — For many people, a lingering cough is much more than just a bother. In addition to being physically draining, a cough that just won’t go away can ruin sleep, cause feelings of anger and frustration, and even alienate family and co-workers.
While some conditions may be relatively minor, chronic coughing can have major repercussions, according to Suzette Chin, MD, of Respiratory Consultants of Georgia.
“Although the reasons for a chronic cough aren’t always clear, it may be a sign of a more serious condition,” Dr. Chin explained. “However, the most common causes of cough are asthma, acid reflux, and post-nasal drip.”
In an effort to educate the public more about coughing, its causes, and treatment options, Gordon Hospital is hosting a Dinner with the Doctors event on Thursday, November 12 with Dr. Chin. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s Conference Room E. While the dinner is free, registration is required due to space limitations. Please call 706-879-4732 to register. Anyone interested in learning more about coughing is encouraged to attend.
Dr. Chin is an expert in pulmonary, critical care, and internal medicine with a focus on lung sarcoidosis (an inflammation occurring in the lungs), pulmonary rehabilitation, interstitial lung diseases (an inflammatory lung disorder characterized by abnormal formation of fibrous tissue between the tiny air sacs or ducts of the lungs), and pulmonary vascular disease. Dr. Chin performed extensive research in sarcoidosis as a pulmonary fellow and received the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research award from the American Thoracic Society.
Respiratory Consultants of Georgia, located at 100 Hospital Court, Suite 2 on the Gordon Hospital campus, is a full-service pulmonary practice staffed with experienced and knowledgeable physicians committed to personalized care and quality service that meets the goals and exceeds expectations of their patients.
