CALHOUN — Gordon Hospital officials recently welcomed Respiratory Consultants of Georgia to the hospital campus.
Located at 100 Hospital Court in Suite 2, the four physician practice specializes in the care of pulmonary (lung) disease, critical care (intensive care unit treatment), and sleep disorder care.
“Gordon County is very blessed to have this group of physicians open an office here,” said Pete Weber, CEO and president of Gordon Hospital. “This is another medical specialty area for which our residents no longer need to leave town in order to receive.”
With an existing office located in Cartersville, each physician in the practice has at least six years of specialized training beyond graduating from medical school, and has purposely made continuing training part of their practice culture.
The physicians of Respiratory Consultants of Georgia include Suzette A. Chin, M.D., Timothy J. Lin, M.D., Melissa Bruce Rhodes, M.D. F.C.C.P., and Michael D. Waldman, M.D., F.C.C.P.
Dr. Chin is an expert in pulmonary, critical care, and internal medicine with a focus on lung sarcoidosis (an inflammation occurring in the lungs), pulmonary rehabilitation, interstitial lung diseases, and pulmonary vascular disease. Dr. Chin performed extensive research in sarcoidosis as a pulmonary fellow and received the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research award from the American Thoracic Society.
She is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease, and is Board Eligible in the area of Critical Care Medicine.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Chin performed her Internship and Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Penn., where she also completed her Fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care. She is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and the Northwest Georgia Physician Association.
Dr. Lin is an expert in pulmonary, critical care, and internal medicine with a focus on sleep disorders, asthma, critical care medicine, and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.
He performed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., and completed his Fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Lin is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and Northwest Georgia Physician Association.
Dr. Rhodes is an expert in pulmonary, critical care, and internal medicine with a focus on asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (scarring throughout the lungs), interstitial lung diseases, and pulmonary hypertension. She was the only private practice physician serving among academics on the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis National Advisory Panel.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis, Ind. She performed her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Care Center in Indianapolis, IN, and completed her Fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care at Indiana University.
Dr. Rhodes is co-founder of Respiratory Consultants of Georgia and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She serves as Critical Care Department Chair and Credential Committee Chair for Cartersville Medical Center, and also serves on the Cobb County Emergency Agency Disaster Planning Board and Cobb County Medical Society Board. She is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Cobb County Medical Society, Medical Association of Georgia, and Northwest Georgia Physician Association.
Dr. Waldman is an expert in pulmonary, critical care, and internal medicine with a focus on the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, occupational lung disorders, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease treatment. Dr. Waldman also specializes in the diagnosis and study of sleep disorders.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa., and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. He performed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago, Chicago, Ill., where he also completed his Fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care.
Co-founder of Respiratory Consultants of Georgia, Dr. Waldman is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is Medical Director of the Respiratory Department and Medical Executive Committee Officer at Cartersville Medical Center, and is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Cobb County Medical Society, and Northwest Georgia Physician Association.
In addition to accepting new patients, physicians with Respiratory Consultants of Georgia will also host, in conjunction with Gordon Hospital, several Dinner with the Doctors events to help educate the public about various pulmonary diseases and sleep disorders.
