Free neck pain dinner seminar planned

CALHOUN — There is a good reason that most bad things in life are often compared to a pain in the neck.

 Neck pain can be more than just a bit troublesome. With pain levels ranging from acute, or short-term, to chronic and/or progressive, neck pain can interfere with work, routine daily activities, or recreation. But it is treatable, according to Hope Sampson, physical therapist for Gordon Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services.

“Neck pain, or cervicalgia, is a relatively common problem with two-thirds of the population experiencing it at some point in their lives,” Sampson explained. “There are many different causes for neck pain, and while the pain is felt in your neck, it can be caused by numerous other spinal problems.”

Sampson, along with Gordon Hospital Physical Therapist Rob McFarland, will explain some of the causes, prevention tips, as well as current treatment options available for neck pain at a free Dinner Seminar planned for Thursday, August 12, 2010.

“This seminar will benefit anyone who is suffering from pain in their neck,” McFarland said. “You do not have to live with neck pain because there are many treatment options available for all levels of pain.”

The seminar will be held in Gordon Hospital’s Conference Room E beginning at 6 p.m. While the dinner and seminar are free, registration is required by calling (706) 602-7800, ext. 2305.
