DALTON — Hamilton Convenient Care (HCC) is pleased to announce that family nurse practitioner Sherry Calhoun has joined its staff.
The facility has also extended its hours. New hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Calhoun received her family nurse practitioner degree from Georgia State University in 1997. She also received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), and an associate’s degree in nursing from Dalton State College.
Her honors include the G.L. Westcott Award for Excellence in the Nursing Arts, Alpha Honorary Scholastic Honor Society (UTC), Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing, and Who’s Who in American Nursing.
Calhoun lives in Rocky Face with her daughter, Sarah.
Other practitioners at HCC include Jennifer Smith, family nurse practitioner, and Jonathan Thompson, MD.
Smith has been with HCC since April of 2009. She received her primary care nurse practitioner degree from Kennesaw State University in 2007. She and her husband, William, live in Calhoun with their daughters, Rebecca and Gracie.
Thompson has been the medical director at the facility since November of 2009. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from East Tennessee State University in 2001.
Thompson lives in Ringgold with his wife, Deidre, and daughters, Katelyn and Madelyn.
HCC provides treatment to patients ages 2 and up for non-emergent illnesses and injuries that are not life-threatening but require prompt attention. HCC also assists patients when their primary care physician is unavailable.

• Age-related health problems
• General medical examinations
• Sports physicals
• Immunizations/vaccinations
• Suturing
• Incision and drainage
• Preventative and routine examinations
• Splinting
• On-site diagnostic testing (laboratory, radiology and EKGs)

More than $2,000 was raised recently following the Fourth Annual Public Safety Charity Golf Tournament hosted by Gordon EMS.
