CALHOUN —
Registration is currently under way for the Gordon Hospital Foundation’s Fourth Annual Golf Classic.
According to Judy Jackson, Gordon Hospital’s director of Development Services, proceeds from this year’s tourney will benefit cancer services at the hospital.
“Gordon Hospital has been awarded a Certificate of Need to purchase a linear accelerator, which will allow us to offer radiation therapy,” Jackson explained. “Right now, cancer patients from Calhoun and Gordon County are traveling out of the community to get this vital service. Although the certificate is still going through an appeals process, the hospital hopes to begin building a full cancer center as soon as the matter is settled.”
Last year, the Golf Classic raised more than $17,000 for the Gordon Hospital New Beginnings obstetrics department.
This year’s Golf Classic is planned for Tuesday, October 19 at Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville. Registration will being at 9 a.m. with the shotgun start at10 a.m.
