Chase Miller overcame a one-stroke deficit after the opening round of the Dalton Golf and Country Club’s men’s club championship to score a four-stroke victory over defending champ David Noll Jr. on Sunday.
Miller followed up Saturday’s opening-round 69 with a 66 to finish at 9-under 135. The recent Dalton High graduate and The Daily Citizen’s All-Area Spring Team Male Athlete of the Year, he’s headed to College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick on a scholarship.
Noll, a former pro and five-time Georgia State Golf Association Player of the Year, went 68-71 — 139 in the tourney.
Rounding out the top five finishers in the tourney’s championship flight was a trio that finished at 145: Beau Bray (76-69), Brian Owens (72-73) and Matt Oxford (73-72).
Other flight winners were: Mike Nance (75-71 — 146 in championship A), Steven Nealey (80-78 — 158 in championship B), Lanny H. Bailey (72-74 — 146 in first flight), Bob Chiddister (79-80 — 159 in second flight), Steve McMullen (81-82 — 163 in third flight) and Kevin Sanders (84-85 — 169 in fourth flight).
