GSGA senior women's event open for registration

MARIETTA — Registration is open for the Georgia Senior Women’s Match Play Championship, which is set for May 20-22 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton.

This Georgia State Golf Association event is open to female amateur golfers age 50 or older as of May 20. The field will consist of 48, 56 or 64 players with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes, and the format is match play, with competitors flighted and seeded by handicap index.

This year will mark the second playing of the Georgia Senior Women’s Match Play Champion-ship, as the event was canceled a year ago. In its debut in 2011, Marietta’s Brenda Pictor won on the first playoff hole against Jesup’s Maria Johnson at Doublegate Country Club in Albany.

Players must enter by May 1 at gsga.org. The entry period is also currently open for the Georgia Four-Ball Championship (through April 3) and the Georgia Senior Match Play Championship (through April 17).

Any questions regarding GSGA competitions should be directed to the rules and competitions department at (770) 955-4272, (800) 949-4742 or info@gsga.org.
