MARIETTA —
The fall season is upon us, bringing with it cooler temperatures and colorful scenery. That means it’s an opportune time to keep up the golf game and to join the Georgia State Golf Association.
Through the end of the year, individuals who join GSGA for first-time membership at gsga.org will enjoy benefits through 2012 and receive a $10 coupon to the PGA TOUR Superstore.
GSGA membership provides valuable services for those interested in the game of golf and is open to anyone who signs up online or through a GSGA Member Club. The key benefit of GSGA membership is the USGA Handicap Index, an excellent tool for tracking and improving one’s game. As an additional benefit of the handicap service, members who join GSGA online will automatically receive their handicap revisions by e-mail twice a month, a service called eRevisions. Along with the updated Handicap Index, eRevisions contain other valuable information such as a scoring record, Index history and GSGA news. It also includes a printable handicap card to cut out and use as proof of one’s Handicap Index.
GSGA members also have the convenience of posting their scores via the Internet.
Membership in GSGA also provides other valuable benefits, including:
• A subscription to Golf Georgia magazine, delivered to the member’s home six times a year
• Opportunity to participate in Member Play Days — non-competitive, one-day outings at GSGA Member Clubs
• Eligibility for some of GSGA’s 20 statewide competitions
• Special recognition for Club Champions, Most Improved Golfers, holes-in-one and unique feats on the course
• Access to GSGA RewardLinks, a rewards program featuring exclusive discounts and opportunities for apparel, travel, magazines, golf-related events and products as well as other sports and special events across Georgia
• Access to GSGA TravelLinks, a monthly email and website with members-only offers for popular golf destinations.
Additionally, GSGA membership helps support programs that benefit all golfers in Georgia, including course rating and measuring, scholarships for club employees and future superintendents, tournament and rules assistance to clubs, and industry advocacy efforts to promote and protect the game.
As an additional benefit, individuals who join GSGA online will receive, in their membership confirmation email, a $10 coupon to the PGA TOUR Superstore, which has locations in Duluth, Kennesaw and Roswell.
GSGA makes it easy for golfers of all ages and skill levels to “get linked” and enjoy all the benefits of membership throughout the year. An individual’s GSGA membership is maintained at one of over 360 GSGA Member Clubs across the state of Georgia. Interested individuals can join GSGA by signing up through a Member Club in his/her area, or they can make application to one of 80 Member Clubs currently participating in the online membership program. A complete list of those clubs is below.
The three-step application process for joining GSGA online is streamlined, simple and secure. Interested individuals should log on to www.gsga.org and click the “Join GSGA” button. The first step provides information and instructions which should answer any initial questions. In the second step, applicants can view a map of Georgia showing the locations of participating Member Clubs, along with contact information and website links to those clubs. After selecting a “home” club, applicants complete the third and final step – a brief application and credit card payment (VISA, Mastercard, Discover or American Express accepted). Dues for 2012 calendar-year memberships are just $40, which includes the remainder of 2011 as a bonus and the PGA TOUR Superstore coupon.
Once the process is complete, applicants will receive a confirmation email with information detailing when they can start posting scores and expect to receive their USGA Handicap Index.
The online membership option is for new GSGA members. Current members wanting to renew their membership for 2012 should do so through their current home club.
GSGA gift memberships are also available. The online application features an option to purchase a membership on someone’s behalf and send a gift card to the recipient at no additional cost. Gift memberships also include the 2011 bonus months and the PGA TOUR Superstore coupon.
For more information or questions regarding GSGA membership, please contact the Member Services department at (770) 955-4272, 800-949-4742 or info@gsga.org.
Founded in 1916, the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) received its official charter on June 24, 1924. Since that date, the GSGA has grown to one of the largest state amateur golf associations in the country, with over 350 member clubs and 85,000 individual members. With a mission to promote and preserve amateur golf in the state of Georgia, GSGA offers a computerized handicapping service, course rating and measuring, and annually conducts a full schedule of statewide competitions for men and women of all age groups. Other services include a summer-long junior sectional program, award-winning Golf Georgia magazine, membership recognition and rewards programs, management of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and a charitable foundation administering two college scholarship programs.
