Entries open for several GSGA tourneys

MARIETTA — Entries are now being accepted for the 2010 Georgia Women’s Team Championship, which takes place Sept. 29-30 at The Club at Savannah Harbor.

This Georgia State Golf Association event is open to two-person teams of female amateur golfers who are GSGA members, age 18 or above as of Sept. 29, and with a maximum team handicap differential of eight strokes (individuals' maximum USGA Handicap Index may not exceed 31.9).

The field will consist of 60 teams — 10 teams with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes compete in the Championship flight (handicap differential requirement does not apply). Remaining teams are determined on a first-come, first-serve basis. Field will be expanded if 80 teams enter, with a maximum of 100 teams.

The format is one round of flighted, four-ball stroke play and one round in scramble format.

Last year, Ginette Spinucci of Stone Mountain and Danielle Davis of St. Simons Island fired a 4-under-par 67 in the final round to come from behind and win by one stroke at the 24th annual Georgia Women’s Team Championship, which took place at Sea Palms Golf Resort on St. Simons Island.

Qualified players must enter online at gsga.org by clicking the online registration quick link. The deadline for entries is Sept. 8.

Also, entries will be closing soon for both the Georgia Senior Championship and GSGA Senior Women’s Championship.

The Senior Championship takes place Aug. 25-27 at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega. This event is open to male amateur golfers who are GSGA members and age 55 or older as of Aug. 25.

The field will consist of 144 players with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes. The format is 54 holes of stroke play, with the field cut to the low 70 and ties after 36 holes.

The Senior Women’s Championship takes place Aug. 30-31 at Houston Lake Country Club in Perry. This event is open to female amateur golfers who are GSGA members and age 50 or older as of Aug. 30.

The field will consist of 144 players with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes. The format is 36 holes of flighted stroke play.

Qualified players must enter online at gsga.org by clicking the online registration quick link.

The deadline for entries for both competitions is Aug. 4. Any questions regarding GSGA competitions may be directed to the Rules and Competitions Department at (770) 955-4272, (800) 949-4742, or info@gsga.org.
