GSGA accepts entries for Atlanta Amateur Match Play Championship

MARIETTA — Entries are now being accepted for the 2010 Atlanta Amateur Match Play Championship, which takes place Oct. 7-10 at Rivermont Golf and Country Club in Johns Creek. This event is open statewide to male amateur golfers who are Georgia State Golf Association members.

The field will consist of 120 players with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes. The format of the event is match play preceded by 18 holes of stroke play qualifying. The low 31 competitors and the defending champion advance to the match play bracket.

Last year, defending champion David Noll Jr. of Dalton captured his second straight and third overall title with a 3-and-2 win in the final match over Christian Raynor of Kennesaw.

Qualified players must enter online at gsga.org by clicking the online registration quick link. The deadline for entries is Sept. 15.

The entry period is also currently open for the Georgia Public Links Championship (through Aug. 18) and the Georgia Women’s Team Championship (through Sept. 8).

Any questions regarding GSGA competitions may be directed to the Rules and Competitions Department at (770) 955-4272, (800) 949-4742 or info@gsga.org.
