Georgia Jewel race this weekend

The Georgia Jewel 100-mile trail run will return to Dalton for the second straight year.

More than 160 runners are expected to compete in the event, set for Saturday and Sunday on the Pinhoti Trail. Participants will run either 100, 50 or 35 miles. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each category.

“Dalton continues to attract Ultra sports and the Jewel is another example,” said Brett Huske, executive director of the Dalton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The Pinhoti offers an extreme challenge for runners willing to take on the challenge.

“The race will start and end at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center. Runners will compete on an ‘out-and-back’ course, which will be staffed with many volunteer organizations providing support for runners.”
