DALTON —
Submitted by Southern Surgical Arts
On July 23, Dr. Carey Nease, a double board-certified cosmetic surgeon who practices at Southern Surgical Arts in Calhoun and Dalton, received a much anticipated letter from the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The letter notified him that he had successfully passed his third board exam, making him one of the few triple board-certified general cosmetic and facial plastic surgeons in the nation.
To qualify to sit for the facial plastic surgery exam, Nease was required to complete an American Board of Medical Specialties head and neck surgery residency and have more than two years experience in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures.
“I am honored to be in this group of elite surgeons, and I’m ready to provide the latest training that I have learned to my patients,” said Nease.
Nease received his original board certification in 2004 by the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and his second by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery after he completed his cosmetic surgery fellowship training in 2007.
The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery also recently recognized Nease by inviting him to be a board examiner for the annual exam. And in the past six months, he has worked with the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery to establish a one-year fellowship-training program at Southern Surgical Arts that teaches cosmetic surgery to other ABMS-certified surgeons, head and neck surgeons or plastic surgeons.
On July 1, general surgeon Dr. Vincent Gardner of Birmingham, Ala. joined Nease as his first fellow at Southern Surgical Arts.
