Ringgold United Methodist Church is reaching out to those seeking new career directions.
The church is offering a seven-week workshop affiliated with the Crossroads Career Network, said Keith Kenney, course instructor.
“This course and guide are designed to be a simple and powerful combination of practical and spiritual instruction exercises and devotionals – intended to be used with other job search, career transition and Christian resources,” he said. “It is a faith-based approach to explore six steps through crossroads in your career, a path which thousands of people have already walked.”
Kenney will oversee the Wednesday night series beginning Oct. 14 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. for seven consecutive weeks except Thanksgiving week. The series is free but there is a $25 fee for materials.
“The Crossroads Career Network (http://www.crossroadscareer.org) is a non-profit Christian ministry of member churches providing online career, ministry and employer resources,” he said. “The focus is to provide help and assistance to people in our area that are unemployed, mis-employed, or fully employed but are seeking a new direction.”
Toni Ruppert took the workshop this summer after losing her job.
“I found it to be a great opportunity to freshen up my interview skills,” she said. “What was interesting after one of the classes where we went over defining how we should answer certain interview questions, I went through an interview where the exact questions were asked and thanks to the course I had all the answers ready.”
She did land a new job after taking the workshop.
Participation connects students with the Crossroads Career ® Job Board, career testing, resume preparation instruction, interview training, all with a Christian based approach, Kenney said.
