Blessing the bikes in Ringgold

Ringgold United Methodist Church (RUMC) will host will host a Blessing of the Bikes on Saturday, April 18 at 2:30 p.m.

“Being the church means reaching out in real ways to all people, including diverse groups in our community,” said Tina Pinkston, coordinator of community worship and director of The Water’s Edge. “We want people to know that God loves them in real and simple ways. And we want them to know about The Water’s Edge, a Sunday night worship experience designed for folks who have not connected in 'normal' church settings.”

The event will occur in the RUMC parking lot 7484 Nashville Street in Ringgold.

“We’re weird, in that we are trying to create experiences that are very casual, interactive and imperfect,” she said. “where people might just connect with God. This will be our first Blessing of the Bikes, and one of many more out-of-the-box projects we have planned.”

Pinkston said RUMC is excited to be hosting this event in cooperation with the Mountain Creek Harley Owners Group (MCHOG) and the Dalton Chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) will be assisting us with the blessing.

“The blessing is open to all motorcyclists that wish to participate,” said Senior RUMC Pastor John Purrington . “As the weather warms and more riders hit the road, we want them to ride the streets and highways with a blessing.”

The group blessing will be given at 2:30 p.m. for all the bikes and bikers present. CMA members will conduct an individual blessing, by request, following the group blessing.

The band Purrington will be playing before and after the blessing from 2-3 p.m. To learn more about The Water’s Edge, visit www.watersedgeringgold.org or to check out Purrington, visit www.purringtonmusic.com
