The 13th annual Spring Place Ruritan Club Golf Tournament is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on March 31 at Indian Trace Golf Course in Chatsworth.
Club members are signing up teams and hole sponsors as they anticipate another good tournament this year. Proceeds from the event will support the Spring Place Ruritan Club’s numerous service projects in Murray County.
The tournament will be a 4-person select shot event with space for up to 25 teams. The cost is $55 per person. Mulligans are $5 each for up to two per golfer. Range balls are extra.
Low score team prizes are $400 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third place. There will also be a special prize for the player closest to the pin on hole No. 5. For the longest drives (from the white tees) on holes 8 and 17, there are cash prizes of $75 each. The really big award is a $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on No. 18!
There will also be a free barbecue lunch with homemade desserts for all participants at the awards ceremony in the clubhouse pavilion at the end of the tournament. The rain date for the tournament is April 21.
Hole sponsorships are available for $125 each.
In recent years, the Ruritan has made donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Community Christmas, Murray County Rescue Squad, Chatsworth-Murray County Library, Murray County EMTs, several schools, Boy Scouts, Spring Place Cemetery, Murray County Red Cross, Saturday Snacks and the historical society. In addition, the group recognizes the county’s teachers on Teacher Appreciation Day and awards the G.I. Maddox and Carl L. Davis Memorial Scholarships to local high school seniors.
Celebrating more than 60 years of service, the Spring Place Ruritan Club is a member of Ruritan National, an organization dedicated to improving communities and building a better America through fellowship, goodwill, and community service. Ruritan, America’s oldest civic organization, has 30,000 members in more than 1,000 clubs in 25 states.
