The John Bruner Memorial Missionary Ridge road race is scheduled 8 a.m. Saturday at the Bragg Reservation in Chattanooga. This is the 26th year for the race, which was renamed last year.
Half the proceeds go to Team Bruner and half to the American Red Cross. Bruner, a former distance runner at Dalton High and Georgia College and State University, collapsed and died near the finish in the 2007 race of a coronary artery anomaly.
More than 220 runners competed in the 2008 race, and one of Bruner’s former high school teammates, Ken Eichberg, won the overall male championship.
