Showcase of the Stars: You be the judge
Everyone who buys a ticket to the Whitfield Education Foundation’s Seventh Annual Showcase of the Stars gets a seat in the judge’s chair.
Every $7 ticket sold grants the buyer one vote in the outcome of the annual talent competition on Saturday.
While ticket sales benefit the foundation’s Innovative Teaching Grants in Whitfield County Schools, students from the Calhoun, Dalton, Murray and Whitfield school systems will compete on Saturday at the Wink Theatre in Dalton.
Elementary students take the stage at 2 p.m. followed by middle and high school students at 6 p.m. The audience will choose first, second and third place winners in each of the three categories. A cash award of $300 goes to first place, $200 to second place and $100 to third place. Judges will also bestow a Judge’s Choice Award trophy to one act from age division.
Those who attend the elementary show get the bonus of performances by the Antioch and New Hope elementary school choruses.
Advance ticket sales are available through the foundation, which can be reached by phone at (706) 217-6757 or by e-mail to wef@whitfield.k12.ga.us. Tickets will also go on sale at the Wink Theatre box office one hour before each show.
