"Pet Projects" at Michael's on Friday

Submitted by Michael’s Fine Arts and Framing

Michael’s Fine Arts and Framing will host the final reception of its “Show Your Art Series” on Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The show, titled “Pet Projects,” features local artist Ellyn Bivin. The reception is in cooperation with the Creative Arts Guild as part of the “Gallery Hop.” Wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Bivin said her love of art began at an early age with a father who’s an artist, and a mother guiding her on how to look at nature through the eyes of an artist.

“On a technical level my drawings and painting are my personal visual diary and reflect my interpretation and expression of the designs, figures and patterns I observe,” Bivin said.

She studied at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga under the guidance of artist George Cress and sculptor Jim Collins. She received a bachelor of fine arts degree from the School of Art at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. She has won numerous awards in national shows, and exhibited in many cities around the nation. Bivin teaches private art classes, and workshops where she continues to explore her style of art.

The Creative Arts Guild, at 520 W. Waugh St, will continue to show “Moe Mitchell & Friends” in the main gallery, and “Small Works” will be in Gallery 111 featuring local and regional artists.

Michael’s Fine Arts and Framing is at 1325 Dug Gap Road.
