ROME — The Berry College music department is excited to announce a new concert series showcasing a wide variety of musical genres, styles and instrumentation. The launch of this new series coincides with the 100th anniversary of music education on Berry’s 26,000-acre campus.
Featured artists will include an assortment of nationally accomplished musicians, splendid local performers and a talented alumnus. The next performance is by baritone Elem Ely on Thursday, Oct. 29. The schedule continues after the holidays with the Atlanta Super Band on Jan. 22, pianist Joe Chapman on Feb. 8 and tenor John Howell, a Berry College alumnus, March 11.
“We really want to please as many people as possible,” said Adam Hayes, the artist-in-residence in Berry’s music department. “As the series moves forward in coming years, we plan to bring in one artist from every area, including vocals, winds and brass, strings, and maybe a guitar quartet.”
In an effort to make the performances as accessible as possible, admission is free and open to the public. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in Ford Auditorium.
