Old time music at old time prices: The Red White & Bluegrass Concert
Come to Downtown Calhoun and enjoy old time music at old time prices — only $5 admission to the first SEBA (Southeastern Bluegrass Association) concert at the Harris Arts Center, 212 S. Wall St., on July 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. featuring Penn Lester and the Dixie Hot Shots and 4ever Blue.
The Dixie Hot shots are from the Northwest Georgia area and tour throughout the Southeast. They play traditional bluegrass and gospel music, with some great originals thrown in as well. They were featured on the outdoor stage at the 2009 Calhoun String Band Festival in April.
From Northeast Georgia, 4ever Blue is steeped in bluegrass tradition, yet is willing to take the tradition and incorporate other musical influences. The band’s motto is taken from the wedding tradition “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” 4ever blue encourages you to “come out and release your inner hillbilly!”
You won’t want to miss this great bluegrass show. There are no advance ticket sales; admission is at the door the night of the event. For more information contact the Harris Arts Center at (706) 629-2599 or SEBA Calhoun chapter VP Steve Dyrda at (770) 608-8729.
