Freeze Frame, Chuck Frye and Mistletoe Market at the Guild

In the spirit of the holidays, this month’s First Friday at the Guild’s Waugh Street facility will hosts three concurrent show and sales on Friday.

The Guild’s main gallery will feature the Carpet Capital Camera Club’s (CCCC) annual Freeze Frame Exhibit; Gallery 111 will show the paintings of Chuck Frye and the new performance hall will play host to 25 artists selling their wares in the Mistletoe Market.

First Friday and the Mistletoe Market kick off the weekend at 5 p.m.

The annual Freeze Frame exhibit is an open invitational to area photographers to bring their photographic works for sale and display. It is sponsored each year by the CCCC which meets monthly at the Creative Arts Guild and assist in promoting the exhibit.

“This show gives us an opportunity to view the world through the eyes of the photographer with an array of subject matter that covers everything from portraiture to landscapes to abstract works, Guild Executive Director Terry Tomasello said.

“It is a great time for the community to meet the artists, see a different type of exhibit, and perhaps pick up an original work of art,”  she said.

Photographers are invited to continue to bring their photographs into the Guild through Wednesday. Exhibitors may be amateurs, hobbyists, or professional photographers. There is no entry fee for the exhibit, there are no size restrictions, and work must not have been shown previously at the Guild.

Gallery 111 will show the recent works of painter Chuck Frye. Frye is a longtime artist and community favorite at the Guild’s annual fall Festival.

“Chuck’s subject matter consistently shows scenes from daily American life and is extremely appealing to viewers. His work has a Norman Rockwell feel and people really do connect with it,” Event Director Leanne Lawson said.

The Mistletoe Market is the brainchild of Guild Visual Art Director Bradley Wilson, who said, “This show, along with the Freeze Frame exhibit, is a great opportunity for our customers and patrons to find some original works for gifting during the holidays. Additionally, many of our artists are Festival artists which give folks a second chance at picking up some of their favorite artists wares.”

The First Friday reception and Mistletoe Market opens at 5 p.m. and closes at 9 p.m. on Friday,. The Mistletoe Market continues throughout the weekend and opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday and will close on both days at 5 p.m.

On Saturday Rock Hill School will offer Breakfast with Santa from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with holiday craft activities for children at a small fee and home baked goodies for sale.  On Sunday the Guild will offer complimentary holiday activities for children and hot cocoa.

All Mistletoe Market activities will be at the Guild at 520 W. Waugh St. in Dalton and are free and open to the public. For more information contact the Guild at 706-278-0168 or visit www.creativeartsguild.org.
