Jerry and Kathoise Ray of Cohutta, GA announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kathoise Nicole Ray of Austin, TX to Samuel Aaron Ballas of Austin, TX. He is the son of Cathy Ballas of Youngstown, Ohio, and Steven and Allison Ballas of Youngstown, Ohio.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Hoyt and Gay Hawkins of Goodwater, Alabama, and Nell Ray and the late Cephas Ray of Birmingham, Alabama. She is the sister of Nathan Ray of Athens, Georgia; Nicholas Ray of Cohutta, Georgia; and Jessica Ray of Durham, North Carolina.
Miss Ray is a graduate of Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia. She obtained a Bachelor of Art in Journalism (Public Relations) and a Bachelor of Art in History from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She is employed with the Austin Independent school district.
The future groom is the grandson of the late Jan Ballas of Zanesville, Ohio; Leonard and Bea Ballas of Zanesville, Ohio; and Don and Helen Smith of Sandusky, Ohio. He is the brother of Rachael Ballas of East Lansing, Michigan.
Mr. Ballas obtained a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He is currently a graduate Ph.D student in mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin.
The wedding is scheduled for January 3, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
