Teacher Stuckey seeks position of clerk of Superior Court

Jodi Putnam Stuckey, a teacher at Dalton Middle School, says she will qualify to run for Whitfield County Superior Court clerk as a Republican.

Qualifying begins Wednesday. The primary is July 31. Susan Miller, who was defeated four years ago by Republican Melica Kendrick when Miller ran as a Democrat, also says she will qualify as a Republican.

Stuckey, 37, said she has worked the last seven years in the Whitfield County and Dalton public school systems. At Dalton Middle School she also coaches golf and softball, and she helps with the Dalton High School girls’ basketball program. She previously worked for the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office/E911 and Dalton Municipal Court.

“This will be my first run at an elected office, but I feel extremely confident about the positive impact that I will make for all Dalton/Whitfield County residents that deal with the clerk’s office,” she said in a press release. “I feel that my experience, education and strong work ethic will give the taxpayers of Whitfield County a clerk’s office that they can be proud of and that they deserve. I have a vision for the clerk’s office that will include: update the use of technology, make public records more accessible for everyone, become a more user-friendly department, and to evolve into a more cost-efficient office. ”

Stuckey is a 1993 graduate of Northwest Whitfield High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Covenant College and added a business education teaching license from Lee University.

She is married to Orville Stuckey Jr. and they have four children: Wyatt, 14, Nicholas, 11, Kenley, 8, and Kayden, 3. They attend Salem Baptist Church.
